Close to seven years ago, I began collecting bald cypress with the aim to provide truly unique material to others who also enjoyed the versatility of the species. My goal was simple then, and it’s simple now. My experiences have brought me to swamps all over the southeastern United States while meeting some of the most innovative practitioners. I’m glad you found The Boot Bonsai. My name is Joshua Morvant. I began my journey in bonsai over twenty years ago. I saw the collection of Penjing and bonsai at the Montreal Botanical Gardens. I began collecting yamadori and I was hooked. After moving back to The States, I helped my grandfather run his small scale camelia nursery before founding my current company, Revival Timberworks. I now develop private bonsai collections for select clientele. Through my life bonsai has stayed with me as a natural extension of my deep love for nature. Bonsai as a practice brings me profound insight into my life and how we as humans relate to the world around us. Hey y’all! I’m Isaac with The Boot Bonsai. I have recently fallen in love with collecting bald cypress and developing pieces that resemble some of the most beautiful trees in the swamps of Louisiana. Growing up as a kid in Louisiana, whether on the water fishing or in the woods hunting, I always noticed the God-given beauty of bald cypress trees. I also enjoy art and creating things with my hands and bonsai is a place those interests intertwine.
